The Karachi Development Authority is facing scrutiny after reports emerged that the organization is providing salary increments to select staff members while simultaneously failing to pay retirement benefits to former employees. Despite relying on financial assistance from the Sindh provincial government to cover basic operational costs and payroll, the authority issued directives granting advance salary raises to specific officials. One notable instance involves the senior personal secretary to the director general, who received four advance increments in September 2026. Internal sources suggest these benefits were authorized by the former director general shortly before his departure. These actions have sparked concerns regarding the administrative priorities of the KDA, as the institution continues to struggle with a significant cash shortage that has left many retirees waiting for their dues.
