Askarbek Yertayev, the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Kazakhstan, recently addressed a government session regarding the impact of artificial intelligence on the national workforce. He noted that while technological progress is set to eliminate specific roles—such as typists, data entry clerks, and proofreaders—it will simultaneously drive the evolution of many existing positions and foster the creation of entirely new career paths. Despite these shifts, the demand for labor in the country remains significant. Projections indicate that the Kazakh economy will require approximately 2.9 million workers by 2035 to meet replacement needs, with 1.8 million of these roles necessitating skilled personnel. The government continues to monitor these labor market transformations to ensure the workforce adapts to the changing technological landscape.
