The Ministry of Education in Kazakhstan has announced plans to phase out the summative assessment for a unit (SOR) and summative assessment for a quarter (SOCH) systems for students in grades 5 through 11. This transition follows the previous removal of these assessment methods in primary education. Minister Zhuldyz Suleimenova confirmed that the policy shift is scheduled to commence during the upcoming academic year. The decision was reached after officials conducted a comprehensive review of the current national curriculum, student academic performance data, and the existing evaluation framework. By moving away from these specific periodic testing structures, the ministry aims to reform how student progress is measured throughout the middle and senior school years.
