Authorities from Singapore and Malaysia successfully completed a collaborative field training exercise on 27 October to prepare for the launch of the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link. Scheduled to commence operations in early 2027, the rail project necessitates robust cross-border safety protocols. The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) reported that the drill simulated a fire incident occurring on a stranded train. Personnel from both nations practiced coordinated emergency responses, including firefighting operations, medical triage procedures, and the efficient evacuation of casualties. This joint initiative serves to validate the operational readiness and communication frameworks established between the two countries to ensure passenger safety once the cross-border transit service becomes active.
