The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has mandated that local government elections proceed immediately in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa districts where the delimitation process is finalized. A five-member bench, led by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, issued this directive following a review of the current situation. Districts currently under special emergency measures or those where delimitation remains unfinished are excluded from this immediate schedule. The commission has instructed its staff to prepare an election program for the approved areas and to release delimitation timelines for the remaining regions. This decision follows a request from provincial authorities to postpone the voting process due to concerns regarding security and the implementation of emergency protocols in specific parts of the province.
