The Russian government has officially aligned itself with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding his recent negative assessment of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow shares Trump's view that Zelensky is unwilling to engage in meaningful peace negotiations to end the ongoing conflict. Trump recently suggested in a media interview that he finds the Ukrainian president more challenging to negotiate with than Vladimir Putin, predicting that a ceasefire may only be possible once Zelensky leaves office. Meanwhile, European leaders meeting in Brussels have reaffirmed their support for Kyiv, though reports indicate they intend to privately advise the Ukrainian administration to moderate its rhetoric toward the American president. Russia continues to insist on territorial concessions in the Donetsk region as a fundamental condition for any potential ceasefire, a demand that Ukraine has consistently refused to accept throughout the duration of the war.
