The Philippine presidential palace stated on Wednesday that it will not intervene in Vice President Sara Duterte's choice to remain in office despite ongoing impeachment proceedings. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro emphasized that while Duterte is free to decide her own political future, her recent demand for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to step down is entirely unfounded. Castro defended the President's commitment to national welfare, explicitly rejecting any claims of secret foreign agreements. This response follows Duterte's public assertion on Tuesday that she has no intention of vacating her position. The Vice President had previously called for the President's resignation last month, coinciding with legal challenges regarding grave threat allegations. The administration maintains that while the Vice President's tenure is her own prerogative, her criticisms of the President's leadership are considered baseless.
