The Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS) has expressed support for the government's initiative to transition contract pharmacy officers into permanent roles. While acknowledging the Health Ministry's commitment to propose these appointments to the Cabinet and the Ministry of Finance, the association is calling for greater transparency regarding the process. Specifically, the MPS is seeking concrete information on the total number of available positions, the criteria for eligibility, and a definitive schedule for implementation. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad noted that these permanent roles will be funded through a separate allocation, distinct from the 9,000 medical officer positions announced in the 2027 Budget. The MPS emphasized that providing these specific details is essential to offer clarity and reassurance to the numerous young professionals currently working under contract status within the public health system.
