The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living in Malaysia recently conducted a series of inspections targeting the safety of children's toys. Between October 1 and 14, authorities inspected nearly 1,850 business premises, including manufacturers and retailers, to ensure adherence to safety regulations. As a result of these operations, officials seized 5,801 squishy toys valued at approximately RM70,428 because they lacked the mandatory Safety Compliance Mark. Enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam emphasized that the ministry remains committed to upholding the Consumer Protection Act 1999 to protect children. He urged parents and the general public to verify that all toys bear the required safety certification labels before making a purchase. The ministry continues to monitor the market to prevent the distribution of non-compliant products.
