Kalsom Noordin, the head of Melaka Wanita Umno, has refuted reports suggesting she willingly stepped down to allow a new Barisan Nasional candidate to run in the Pengkalan Batu constituency for the approaching state election. The state executive council member stated that she was never involved in any consultations or discussions regarding the replacement of her candidacy with Siti Aisyah Mahmood. While Kalsom acknowledged the party's ultimate authority to select candidates, she expressed dissatisfaction over not being notified prior to the decision. She maintained that she had fulfilled her duties effectively and expected to be nominated for the seat. The official emphasized that the situation should not be characterized as a voluntary transition or a deliberate passing of responsibilities to a successor.
