The government of Nepal has officially declined a revised recruitment proposal from Malaysia regarding the hiring of Nepali laborers. Initially, Malaysia sought to restrict the process to only 25 authorized manpower firms within its Foreign Worker Centralised Management System. Following significant pushback from Kathmandu, Malaysian authorities attempted a compromise by designating an additional 250 firms as support agencies under the original 25 primary recruiters. However, Nepal's Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has maintained its opposition to this hierarchical arrangement. Through diplomatic channels, Nepal has communicated that it will not accept a system that limits the number of principal agencies or creates a tiered structure for recruitment. This ongoing disagreement highlights the friction between the two nations over the management and regulation of foreign labor migration.
