Foreign ministers from Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt convened in Istanbul to express collective support for the diplomatic understanding between Iran and the United States facilitated by Islamabad. This high-level meeting occurred amidst growing international apprehension regarding potential military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran, which could destabilize the region and threaten maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. Participants included Pakistan’s Ishaq Dar, Türkiye’s Hakan Fidan, Saudi Arabia’s Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and Egypt’s Badr Abdelatty. In a formal joint declaration, the representatives emphasized the critical necessity of managing tensions to prevent a new cycle of conflict in the Gulf. The diplomatic initiative reflects a broader effort by regional and European powers to maintain the current fragile de-escalation and ensure stability in the area.
