London-based activist investor Palliser Capital is calling on Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor to narrow the valuation gap currently affecting their preferred shares. During the Sohn San Francisco Investment Conference, the firm highlighted that these discounts represent a potential market value exceeding $60 billion within the South Korean equity sector. To facilitate the repurchase and cancellation of these preferred shares, Palliser proposed that Samsung explore the issuance of American depositary receipts. The investment fund argues that addressing these discrepancies would unlock significant value for shareholders across the broader South Korean market.
