Authorities in Mysuru have initiated legal proceedings against former Member of Parliament Pratap Simha following his comments during a Ganesh idol immersion event in T Narasipura. According to district police, the charges include rioting, promoting communal disharmony, and obstructing public servants. The controversy stemmed from a disagreement regarding the procession route and subsequent remarks made by a local police inspector. During the event, Simha publicly criticized the officer while addressing a crowd near a mosque. While opposition leader R Ashoka dismissed the legal action as routine given Simha's history of similar cases, representatives from the ruling party emphasized that no individual is exempt from legal accountability. The police have also named several other participants in the case, which remains under investigation.
