Turkish law enforcement officials apprehended 15 individuals on Monday as part of an ongoing inquiry into alleged stock market manipulation involving Katılımevim, a firm specializing in interest-free financing for vehicles and homes. Authorities are currently searching for 10 additional suspects. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated legal action against 25 people following findings from the Capital Markets Board regarding suspicious trading patterns. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek confirmed that the investigation also targets executives and officials associated with nine financial entities, with prosecutors imposing restrictions on their asset transfers. This regulatory crackdown follows recent instability in the national stock index, which was triggered by concerns over investment funds failing to fulfill investor withdrawal demands. The probe remains focused on the conduct of various fund managers and investment companies currently under scrutiny by state regulators.
