President Lai Ching-te recently announced a significant increase in medical and logistical support for Taiwan's athletes participating in the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. During a flag-presentation ceremony in Kaohsiung, Lai confirmed that the delegation's support staff has been expanded to 53 members, while auxiliary service stations now feature 42 personnel to assist with recovery, nutrition, and training. Managed by the newly formed Ministry of Sports under Minister Lee Yang, the 740-member delegation includes 482 athletes competing across 34 disciplines. Notable participants include Olympic medalists such as Lin Yu-ting and Kuo Hsing-chun. Rather than mandating specific medal counts, President Lai encouraged the competitors to prioritize personal performance improvements, noting that collective success will follow individual excellence. The upcoming event in Japan represents a major effort by the government to provide comprehensive resources for the nation's top sporting talent.
