The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has initiated a formal inquiry into the Sabah Pan Borneo Highway project following findings from the Auditor-General’s Report. Despite the expenditure of RM10.547 billion, representing nearly 95 percent of the allocated budget, the infrastructure development remains significantly behind its original timeline. PAC chairperson Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin noted that the 706-kilometre project was initially scheduled for completion by the end of 2021. However, only four of the 35 designated work packages have been finalized to date. The committee is now scrutinizing the financial management and physical execution of the remaining 31 packages, which are currently ongoing with a combined value exceeding RM16 billion. This investigation aims to address why the project has failed to meet its delivery targets five years after the intended completion date.
