Dr. Hamdi Mbarek, who serves as the director of research and data analytics at the Qatar Precision Health Institute, has been selected to join the World Health Organisation’s Science Council. This body consists of 21 international experts tasked with advising the WHO leadership on critical scientific and technological developments. The council plays a vital role in shaping global public health strategies by evaluating emerging innovations. Dr. Mbarek’s inclusion in this group highlights his extensive professional background in human genomics, population genetics, and large-scale data science. In his current role at the Qatar Foundation member institute, he oversees initiatives focused on genomic discovery and the creation of population-specific health resources, contributing to the advancement of precision medicine on both a local and international scale.
