During a recent hearing at the Sandiganbayan, medical staff provided inconsistent testimonies concerning the hospital admission of former speaker Martin Romualdez. Dr. Kurt Allen Sibayan, who served as the admitting physician at Cardinal Santos Medical Center, informed the court that he was barred from entering the patient's room upon Romualdez's arrival on September 7, 2026. Sibayan stated that colleagues Rody Sy and Rosalio Torres were responsible for restricting his access. Furthermore, while Sibayan acknowledged that the former speaker's medical situation did not constitute an emergency, he confirmed that Romualdez bypassed standard emergency room protocols to be admitted directly to a private room. The court is currently examining the legitimacy of his ongoing confinement through these conflicting accounts from the attending medical team.
