Indonesian authorities reported thirteen distinct volcanic eruptions across four separate mountains on Thursday. The Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Centre confirmed that Mount Ibu in North Maluku experienced six eruptions, while Ili Lewotolok in East Nusa Tenggara recorded four. Additionally, Mount Semeru in East Java erupted twice, and Anak Krakatau recorded a single event. Volcanic ash resulting from this heightened geological activity forced the closure of an airport located in East Nusa Tenggara. Anak Krakatau remains under a Level III alert status, the second-highest tier in the national warning system, following observations of continuous tremors and hybrid earthquakes. Monitoring efforts continue as officials track the ongoing seismic instability across the archipelago.
