Nearly three decades after the initial release of Practical Magic, stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are reprising their roles as the Owens sisters. Although the 1998 film faced harsh criticism and poor box office results, it eventually gained a cult following through social media. Bullock noted that the original reception was unfairly critical of the film's focus on women and witchcraft. The sequel, based on Alice Hoffman’s novel The Book of Magic, introduces a new generation of characters played by Joey King and Maisie Williams. As producers, Bullock and Kidman managed the project with a focus on fiscal responsibility, including the reconstruction of the iconic Owens house in London. The cast and production team expressed enthusiasm for this legacy project, viewing it as a meaningful continuation of the story that honors the original while passing the torch to younger performers.
