A teenager in the Guatemalan village of El Jocote unexpectedly regained consciousness while lying in her casket during a wake. Her mother reported seeing the girl move and sit up after opening a viewing window in the coffin lid. The incident followed a distressing sequence of events where the girl's father, a local pastor, believed his daughter had passed away. After she lost consciousness at home, he attempted to transport her to a medical facility but concluded she had died when he could no longer detect a pulse or breathing. Consequently, funeral arrangements were made before reaching the hospital. The girl was subsequently discovered to be alive during the farewell ceremony held in her home community.
