The Singaporean Ministry of Law announced on October 23 the formation of a specialist panel tasked with investigating companies potentially connected to regional haze-causing fires. This initiative aims to hold both domestic and international entities accountable for their roles in environmental degradation. The panel, composed of experts from legal, auditing, and investigative firms, will scrutinize corporate supply chains and operational structures to determine if any businesses have contributed to or supported activities leading to forest fires. Targeted companies are mandated to cooperate fully by disclosing comprehensive information regarding their corporate groups and operational practices. This move represents a significant step by the government to enforce corporate responsibility and mitigate the recurring impact of transboundary haze on the nation.
