A Singapore High Court judge has rejected a legal claim filed by the daughter of the late businessman Chew Yam Song Peter, who sought to recover over S$1.7 million from a 39-year-old woman named Sun Beibei. The plaintiff, acting as the executor of her father's estate, alleged a breach of fiduciary duty regarding the funds transferred to Sun. However, Justice Philip Jeyaretnam ruled that the money was provided voluntarily by the deceased, who owned Evergreen Seafood, to support Sun during his battle with cancer. The court recognized Sun as the businessman's primary caregiver and romantic partner, noting that their relationship was widely acknowledged. Consequently, the court dismissed the lawsuit and ordered the estate to pay S$209,856 in legal costs to the defendant.
