The Taskforce on Assurance for Families with Persons with Disabilities has announced a new initiative to significantly lower the financial burden for households supporting disabled adults. By 2028, families can expect a reduction in care expenses of up to 80 percent. The Ministry of Social and Family Development plans to introduce a fee cap on these services, ensuring that out-of-pocket costs remain manageable after government assistance. Additionally, means-tested subsidies will be increased by a minimum of 10 percentage points for the majority of beneficiaries. These changes apply to a broad spectrum of care facilities, including day activity centers, adult disability hostels, and residential homes. This policy aims to provide long-term security and peace of mind for families as they navigate the complexities of ongoing care and support for their loved ones.
