A woman in her forties has been sentenced by a South Korean court to pay a fine of 6 million won for stalking actor Hwang Jung-min. In addition to the financial penalty, the court mandated that she complete 40 hours of educational programming focused on stalking prevention. During the proceedings, the defendant attempted to argue that she and the actor were involved in a reciprocal romantic relationship, a claim the court dismissed. The presiding judge determined that the volume and persistent nature of the messages sent by the defendant were enough to induce significant fear and anxiety in the victim. Furthermore, the court noted that the woman was aware that her unwanted contact was not welcomed by the actor.
