The Court of Appeal in Sri Lanka has rescheduled the announcement of its decision concerning intervention petitions related to the detention of former State Intelligence Service Director Suresh Salley. Salley is currently challenging his arrest by the Criminal Investigation Department, which is investigating his alleged involvement in the Easter Sunday terror attacks. The court, which was expected to issue its ruling on October 14, has moved the date to October 22. Several parties, including religious leaders like Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith and Buddhist monk Bengamuwe Nalaka Thera, alongside various civil organizations, have requested to participate in the legal proceedings. These groups are seeking to submit their arguments regarding the legality of the detention of the former intelligence official.
