Turkish officials have apprehended ten people, primarily former prison guards, regarding the 2011 death of Kaşif Kozinoğlu, a high-ranking National Intelligence Organization (MIT) officer. Kozinoğlu, who was held at Silivri prison during the Ergenekon investigations, died from an alleged heart attack, though new evidence suggests foul play linked to the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ). Reports indicate that a guard intentionally ignored emergency alarms and muffled the sound while Kozinoğlu was in distress. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek confirmed that the case was reopened to address long-standing public concerns about the circumstances of his passing. Investigators are currently examining security footage and testimonies to determine if the death was orchestrated by FETÖ infiltrators who previously manipulated the judicial process. One additional suspect remains at large, having reportedly fled to France following the 2016 coup attempt.
