On October 5, the Turkish government issued directives to restrict access to a minimum of 88 accounts on the social media platform X. Among the affected profiles is the official account of the Freedom of Expression Association (İFÖD). The organization reported that authorities justified these measures by citing the necessity to maintain public order and national security. While the government issued the blocking orders, the platform must independently execute these restrictions for them to take effect within the country. The recent wave of censorship also impacts various journalists, a political party, and a former member of the judiciary. This action follows previous efforts by officials to target digital platforms that track online censorship trends in Turkey.
