Kazakhstan athletes Aibek Aitbekov and Yuzush Ashrapov achieved gold medal victories at the U23 Greco-Roman Wrestling World Championships held in Los Angeles. Competing on October 14, Aitbekov secured his title in the 60-kilogram division by defeating Elmir Aliyev of Azerbaijan with a score of 14-3. Meanwhile, Ashrapov claimed the top spot in the 72-kilogram category after a narrow 4-3 win against Gaspar Terteryan from Armenia. This dual success marks the first time since 2021 that a wrestler from Kazakhstan has earned a gold medal at this specific age-group tournament, following Sultan Assetuly’s previous victory in Albania. These performances precede the upcoming senior Wrestling World Championships scheduled to take place in Astana later this month.
