The United Arab Emirates is actively establishing alternative infrastructure for its energy exports and commercial trade to mitigate risks posed by regional tensions with Iran. Presidential adviser Anwar Gargash stated that the nation is expanding port facilities, railways, and pipelines along its eastern coast to ensure economic stability. These measures are a response to past missile threats and attacks on oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, which the UAE views as a direct challenge to its sovereignty. While Gargash emphasized that a functional relationship with Tehran remains a necessity, he noted that restoring mutual trust will be a long-term process. Furthermore, the official expressed disappointment regarding the lack of a unified strategic response from Gulf Arab states in addressing the Iranian threat, despite a shared understanding of the security challenges facing the region.
