Vietnam is fast-tracking the development of the $7.5 billion Gia Binh International Airport in Bac Ninh Province to ensure its VIP facilities are operational for the 2027 APEC summit. The project, which spans over 1,800 hectares, is currently focused on completing runways, a control tower, and a specialized terminal for state delegations. Funded entirely by private investment through Masterise Group, the facility is designed as a high-tech, dual-use hub for both civil and defense purposes. Once fully operational, the airport aims to alleviate pressure on Noi Bai International Airport and serve as a major logistics and economic center. By 2030, it is projected to handle 30 million passengers annually, with plans to expand capacity further by 2050. The site currently reports over 94% land clearance, with construction teams prioritizing the infrastructure necessary for international diplomatic arrivals.
