Recent economic evaluations from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund present a challenging outlook for Bangladesh. Both institutions anticipate a period of decelerated growth and persistent inflationary pressure in the upcoming fiscal cycles. These projections suggest significant hardships for the general population, particularly as the middle class struggles with rising costs of living and stagnant real income. Furthermore, the reports indicate that a lack of new investment will likely stifle job creation and keep business activity subdued. These findings emerge against a backdrop of global instability, including the lingering effects of the pandemic, ongoing geopolitical conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, and persistent disruptions to international supply chains. Consequently, the analysis offers little expectation for immediate relief, suggesting that the nation faces a difficult period of economic adjustment ahead.
