A recent investigation by the artificial intelligence firm Anthropic has revealed that Houthi rebels in Yemen leveraged the company's software to assist in the creation of guided weaponry. According to the report, titled Detecting and Countering Misuse of AI, the group operated out of northern Yemen and managed three distinct missile development initiatives concurrently. Anthropic stated that it has since taken measures to disrupt these malicious actors. The findings provide insight into the technical capabilities of the Iran-backed rebels, who currently control parts of Yemen, including the capital, Sanaa. These groups have frequently utilized their territory to launch strikes against neighboring nations and recently expanded their influence by capturing the strategic port of Mokha, which overlooks critical maritime shipping lanes near the Bab Al Mandeb strait.
