Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has urged the public to respect the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s recent decision to grant a conditional pardon to former leader Najib Razak. Addressing concerns regarding the impact of this development on governance, Anwar emphasized that the administration's resolve to combat corruption and misuse of authority remains firm. He clarified that the constitutional prerogative of the monarch is distinct from the government's ongoing legal responsibilities. Consequently, all pending judicial proceedings involving the former prime minister and other corruption-related cases will continue to be processed through the established legal system. Anwar reiterated that the rule of law continues to be the foundation of his administration's policy, ensuring that the pardon does not signal a relaxation of efforts to maintain institutional integrity and accountability within the country.
