The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported an incident involving a liquefied natural gas vessel off the coast of al-Mukalla, Yemen. According to the agency, a small craft carrying seven individuals approached the tanker and discharged two rounds of gunfire. In response, the private security personnel stationed on the tanker fired two warning shots toward the attackers. Following this exchange, the small boat adjusted its trajectory and moved away from the merchant ship. No injuries or significant damage were reported in the brief encounter. This event highlights ongoing security concerns for commercial shipping navigating the waters near the Yemeni shoreline, where maritime authorities continue to monitor for potential threats from small, unidentified vessels.
