Local officials in the Dhubri district of Assam conducted an eviction operation on Sunday, resulting in the displacement of over 4,000 individuals. The demolition targeted more than 640 Bengali Muslim households situated on 650 bighas of state-owned land in Alamganj Part-IX village. According to District Commissioner Dibakar Nath, the administration had previously issued notices regarding 800 bighas of occupied territory, though legal proceedings halted actions on a portion of the site. The cleared area is intended for the development of an industrial park, a project that has been under consideration for two years. Officials stated that the occupants had established their residences on the government property in stages over the past decade. Future plans for the land remain subject to further government directives.
