A recent assessment by the National Planning Commission and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority reveals that flash floods on August 26 severely impacted 18 schools in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading. The report indicates that 11 of these educational facilities were completely destroyed, resulting in financial losses estimated at Rs 937 million. In total, 56 school buildings sustained damage, with 156 rooms destroyed and 152 others partially compromised. The recovery process for the affected regions is projected to cost approximately Rs 4.23 billion. Specific impacts were recorded in Gosaikunda and Uttargaya rural municipalities in Rasuwa, Budur Municipality in Nuwakot, and Galchhi Rural Municipality in Dhading. Authorities are currently evaluating the scale of the destruction to facilitate necessary reconstruction efforts for the students and communities impacted by this natural disaster.
