Abalos highlighted Pacquiao's personal history of overcoming economic hardship to achieve global fame as a professional boxer as a key reason for his suitability for the role. According to Abalos, Pacquiao’s background serves as a source of motivation for many citizens, and his genuine commitment to assisting the underprivileged will be an asset to the commission. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. officially swore in the new appointee during a ceremony held at Malacañang. Abalos emphasized that he expects Pacquiao to demonstrate both empathy and resolve while managing the responsibilities associated with this government position.
