Police in Chiang Rai intercepted a significant narcotics shipment on October 11 at the Pu Kaeng checkpoint in Phan district. Officers discovered 350 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine stashed within a hidden compartment of a truck ostensibly transporting bottled water. Two individuals from Nong Khai province, 32-year-old Worawut and 33-year-old Phapatsara, were taken into custody during the operation. According to law enforcement, the suspects were moving the illicit cargo from the Mae Sai border region toward Samut Prakan province. The driver reportedly confessed to authorities that this was his fourth attempt at such a delivery, noting that he had previously received 300,000 baht for each successful transport. The arrest followed intelligence reports regarding a planned drug shipment moving through the area, leading police to stop the vehicle on Phahonyothin Road.
