Authorities in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region have confirmed that the Pinglu Canal will commence navigation on September 16. This development concludes the construction phase of a significant infrastructure project that began in 2022. Spanning 134.2 kilometers, the waterway serves as a vital link between the Xijiang River and the Beibu Gulf. Designed to support vessels weighing up to 5,000 tonnes, the canal represents a primary component of China's New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. As the nation's inaugural major river-to-sea canal initiative, it is expected to enhance regional logistics and maritime connectivity upon its official opening.
