Authorities in Delhi have suspended the appointment of Assistant Commissioner of Police Vivek Bhagat to the role of additional deputy commissioner. This decision follows formal sexual harassment accusations lodged against the officer by a female journalist. The complainant alleges that Bhagat inappropriately touched her while she was documenting the detention of student activist Neha Bora during a protest at Jantar Mantar. Although the journalist attempted to report the incident at the Parliament Street police station, she claims no official action was initiated. While some police sources have suggested that pursuing legal action against officers during duty might hinder law enforcement efforts, and others have claimed a lack of evidence, the government has opted to hold the promotion pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation into the matter.
