Following reports of a fuel-like odor across Dubai and the Northern Emirates, the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has officially confirmed an oil spill near Umm Al Quwain. Environmental specialists stress that a swift response is critical to protecting local marine ecosystems. Rob Mortimer, CEO of Fuelre4m, explained that the primary objective must be to contain the slick using floating booms while it remains concentrated. Recovering the oil from the surface is significantly more efficient at this stage compared to later efforts. Once the spill begins to disperse and drift over larger areas, the cleanup process becomes substantially more complex and challenging. Authorities are currently focused on containment strategies to minimize the long-term ecological impact of the incident on the coastline.
