Gerard Jones, the former head coach of the Bangladesh Under-20 football team, has publicly reported experiencing severe harassment during his tenure. His contract was terminated by the Bangladesh Football Federation on September 4, shortly after the squad failed to qualify for the AFC Under-20 Asian Cup following back-to-back losses. Writing from the United States, Jones disclosed on social media that he was subjected to personal attacks, the unauthorized disclosure of his private data, and explicit death threats. While acknowledging that professional critique regarding team performance is acceptable, Jones emphasized that such hostility crosses a line, reminding the public that coaches are individuals with families. He expressed frustration over the nature of the abuse he endured while managing the national youth side.
