Gulf Cooperation Council citizens will soon benefit from enhanced travel facilitation across member states. Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi announced several initiatives during the Security and History Dialogue 2026 in Riyadh, aimed at transitioning the bloc toward shared services. Key updates include the mutual recognition of driving licences, which will simplify vehicle movement throughout the region. Additionally, land border crossings will feature dedicated lanes specifically for GCC nationals to reduce wait times. The council is also implementing an electronic integration of security systems, including traffic data, to improve regional coordination. These developments represent a strategic shift for the GCC, focusing on practical measures that directly improve the daily lives and mobility of citizens within the member countries.
