Bangladesh Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has publicly accused certain garment factory owners, including former members of parliament and state ministers, of inciting labor unrest within the ready-made garment sector. During a press conference following discussions with the BGMEA and BKMEA, the minister stated that individuals associated with the Awami League are actively working to destabilize the industry. He noted that some industrialists have intentionally shuttered their facilities to contribute to the ongoing instability. Authorities have requested that industry leaders submit comprehensive lists identifying both the factory owners responsible for these closures and the labor representatives involved in the disturbances. The government is currently investigating these claims to address the underlying causes of the protests, which have recently included incidents such as the detention of an individual linked to social media activity.
