Nepal's Home Minister Sudan Gurung departed from the Gen Z Memorial Park in Satdobato, Lalitpur, without performing the scheduled opening ceremony. The event was canceled after relatives of individuals who died during the Gen Z movement voiced strong opposition to the statues erected at the site. These family members argued that the sculptures failed to accurately represent their deceased loved ones, citing poor craftsmanship and negligence during the production process. Upon arriving at the swimming pool complex for the official unveiling, the minister chose to leave the venue as the families refused to accept the current state of the memorial. The protest highlights significant dissatisfaction regarding the commemorative efforts intended to honor those lost during the recent movement.
