During a High Court hearing, prosecutors alleged that Alex Kwong Kong-chi maintained an expensive lifestyle in mainland China using funds belonging to his former partner, the late socialite Abby Choi Tin-fung. Testimony revealed that Kwong utilized Choi’s digital wallets to finance his expenses in Guangzhou while he was a fugitive, having previously evaded legal proceedings related to a 2015 theft case involving HK$6.3 million. Furthermore, the court was informed that Kwong borrowed a vehicle that was subsequently employed to transport equipment linked to the murder of the model. Kwong is currently facing trial for his alleged involvement in the case alongside his father and other family members, as the legal proceedings continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the socialite's death and the financial activities of the accused.
