The Hong Kong Observatory has confirmed that the city endured its hottest October since meteorological records commenced. Data indicates that the mean maximum temperature reached 30.5 degrees Celsius, while the mean and minimum temperatures were recorded at 27.6 degrees and 25.8 degrees respectively, marking historic highs for the month. Meteorologists attribute this unusual heat to a convergence of environmental influences. Specifically, a powerful El Nino event, a lack of intensity in the northeast monsoon, and a persistent anticyclone positioned over southern China collectively contributed to the elevated thermal conditions. These factors disrupted typical seasonal cooling patterns, resulting in temperatures that significantly exceeded historical averages for this time of year.
