A 47-year-old Indian-origin climber, Dhrubajyoti Guha, and his experienced Nepali guide, Fursemba Sherpa, lost their lives following an avalanche at Camp 3 on Mount Manaslu. The pair had continued their ascent despite deteriorating weather conditions that prompted other climbers to turn back. Rescue teams later discovered their bodies buried under deep snow inside their tent. Guha, a mechanical engineer based in Germany and a seasoned ultra-endurance runner, was attempting the summit when the incident occurred. His guide, Fursemba Sherpa, was a veteran mountaineer with multiple successful summits of high-altitude peaks. Expedition organizers have suspended recovery efforts due to ongoing safety risks from the weather. These fatalities contribute to a rising death toll in the Himalayas this year, with four total deaths recorded on Manaslu during the current autumn climbing season.
